Ahmed Bin Ali, Vice President of Corporate Communications presented a keynote address at the beginning of the first day of the event. In his speech Ahmed bin Ali said:
"Etisalat's enormous success in offering fixed-line, internet, cable TV and mobile services has fuelled its strong and continuous growth in the telecom world. Our growing subscriber base is indicative of the strong performance of our international subsidiaries, and our ability to achieve significant market share even in the most competitive markets."
Highlighting Etisalat's strong position in the international telecommunications industry Ahmed bin Ali said:"Earlier this year, Etisalat was named as one of the largest 14 operators in the world and the largest in the Arab world by the Financial Times. Etisalat was also named the fastest growing telecommunications company by Informa Telecoms in the first quarter of this year. These results show that Etisalat is on course to achieving its goal of being one of the top 10 operators in the world by 2010."
Etisalat has recently entered India growing its international footprint to 17 countries with a combined total population of 1.6bn people. It also announced its international subscriber base has exceeded 74 million. The Corporation is currently studying a number of investment opportunities in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
SAMENA Telecommunications Council is non-profit telecommunications association that aims to promote collaboration and knowledge-sharing across 25 countries in the SAMENA region.
