Fitness First, the world's number one health club operator - a franchise owned and operated under license by Leisure Unlimited LLC company, is celebrating the success of its first Ultimate X-Training Challenge, recently held at Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai.

The event, which Fitness First sees as an ideal platform in which to promote wellness across the region to anyone wanting to develop their fitness and health, saw 125 fitness fans participate - 16 teams from local and regional Fitness First clubs as well as two media teams in the Team category, and 48 and 18 individuals entered the Amateur and Professional categories respectively.

After a grueling 12 station test of stamina and willpower, Dubai-based polar explorer Adrian Hayes won the men's Professional category and Elly Rivett the women's; Bader al Alawi won the men's Amateur category and Ingrid Unser the women's; and Team Fitness First UpTown Mirdiff won the team category.

Gary Melhuish, Area Business Manager at Fitness First, commented;
"Setting challenges is all well and good, it's achieving them that are the real test of character. A key objective for Fitness First was to generate community awareness and involvement and we were impressed with the number of people that turned out for the event, to participate, watch and encourage the athletes on and to be a part of the charitable cause. Feedback has been very positive from the participants and we look forward to growing the event over the years to come."

Gary Knill, CEO at Fitness First, commented;
"Community awareness and involvement included Fitness First's charitable cause 'Adopt a Child' program - All As One Charity*, with all entry and raffle draw proceeds of the event being donated in support of the Orphan Children of Sierra Leone. In total AED 15,000 was raised and will go towards the building of a new field hospital and school for the children and the community."

As Fitness First's Middle East partner, equipment provider Technogym played a significant role in the challenge.

"Technogym the world over is committed to supporting its partners in business, charity and in the promotion of fitness events and leading a healthier lifestyle. As the official and exclusive supplier of the Olympics having supported athletes at the peak of athletic ability also allows us to pass on our experience at competitive challenges such as this challenge."
