Dubai universities to be vetted

The University Quality Assurance International Board, set up to monitor academic standards in Dubai's education free zones, has begun reviewing licenses. Sixteen new universities are currently under consideration, with the verdicts due in January. The student population in the emirate is expected to grow from 24,000 in 2007 to 90,000 by 2010.
