The convergence of ICT Infrastructures and its risks will be discussed at this year's IDC's IT Security, Storage and Business Continuity Roadshow, taking place November 5th, at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai, UAE.

Hannes Lubich, BT's Head of Security Practice E*MEA, is set to address security specialists on his expert approach to convergence security.

Hannes said,
"The world is changing fast and rapid globalisation promises huge rewards for organizations that can integrate the best skills, infrastructure and methods that the world has to offer. Unfortunately new rewards come with new risks."

The convergence of ICT infrastructures is an ongoing trend, motivated by the desire to limit the growth of costs and complexity, and to drive intra- and inter-company synergy. A converged, collaborative ICT infrastructure is the target and must therefore be designed for maximum resilience. Operating a secure ICT infrastructure is not necessarily an in-house competence, but can be based on a business operator model for the mission-critical, non-core part of the IT environment.

BT has a wealth of experience in building and managing secure global networks, providing complete protection for global networked IT infrastructures. Its services in the security area combine a unique set of tools, with the experience, knowledge and expertise of consultants from BT Counterpane and BT INS' Ethical Hacking Centre of Excellence. BT recently launched Secure Networking Quick Start Service across the Middle East.

"It is important to preserve the reliability and confidentiality of your company's information and IT resources. The challenge is to back up the effectiveness of implemented network security controls, while mitigating vulnerabilities," said Hannes.

Dr. Hannes Lubich has worked in the areas of operating systems, network technologies, computer-supported cooperative work, security management and IT architecture for 20 years.

Currently, BT supplies a core of set networked IT services such as managed global IP services, business continuity services, security and risk resilience quickstarts, CRM services, sector specific solutions, professional services and outsourcing to the multi-site organization and major institutions.
