Twenty firms from Italy formed the largest pavilion at the PLME, the region's only international private label exhibition.

The fifth edition of the annual event was held from October 28 to October 30, 2008 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Visitors to the event showed great interest in sourcing the quality products and services from Italy that were on display at PLME.

The participation of a record number of firms from Italy in PLME is expected to facilitate a further increase in trade between Italy and Middle East region.

The Italian Pavilion at the PLME was set up by the Italian Trade Commission-Trade Promotion Section of the Italian Embassy in the UAE, the government body responsible for the development of trade between Italy and rest of the world.
Commenting on yet another successful year for Italian firms at PLME, Mr. Francesco Alfonsi, the Italian Trade Commissioner, said:
"All participants from Italy have expressed satisfaction in the quality of business conducted during the exposition. The event provided the Italian firms who are visiting for the UAE for the first time, a platform to understand the dynamics of private label business contracts. On the other hand, local traders had the possibility to check from near a wide variety of high quality products, mainly foodstuff and cosmetics and discuss future contracts that would enable them to enhance their brand names at lower costs."

He added, "We are glad that many of the Italian exhibitors have expressed their willingness to be back at the next year's event."

Ms. Anna Nava, Area Manager of Deoflor SPA, producer of air freshners and house perfumes said, "This is our first time at the PLME, but it has been a fruitful experience for us. The event gave us an opportunity to know the market better. We also received some serious enquiries from not only the UAE but other GCC countries as well."

A part from Deoflor SpA, the Italian companies who exhibited at the Private Label Middle East show were: Alpha Dermo Line (private label cosmetics); Azienda Poggio Felice SRL (products in oil and wine vinegar); Brazzale SPA (butter and cheese); Compagnia del Caffe' (roast coffee);Dental Cleaning SRL (dental floss, inter-dental brushes and toothbrushes); Esseplast SRL (contemporary consumer designed house wares); Europea SPA (producers and exporters of various types of rice); Fallini Formaggi SRL (dried grated cheese); Frediani Del Greco SPA (Virgin olive oil); Gi Picco's Cosmetics SRL (make-up contract manufacturer) ; Homeofisi SRL (thalasso therapy in cosmetics); NYL Laboratories SRL (food supplements and cosmetic products); Pasticceria Sua Maesta (pastries); Saltari SRL (producers of biscuits); Solania SRL (peeled canned tomatoes); Tornisia Aziende Agricole (producers of olives); and Turati Idrofilo SPA (producers of cotton wool products).
