EOR technology raises oil productivity
- Middle East: Thursday, November 06 - 2008 at 07:54
Gulf states can boost productivity at their oil fields by using enhanced oil recovery technology, said Val Brock, the Business Development Manager - EOR for Shell International Exploration and Production. Depending on the reservoir, EOR technology can enhance recovery rates by 5% to 20% on average, he said in a presentation at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference. About 70% of current world oil production comes from fields that are past their peak production. And, typically only 30-35% of their oil will actually be recovered, Gulf News reported.
