DBWC participates in AWA

Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg, President of Dubai Business Women Council, (subsidiary of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Executive Director of Easa Al Gurg Group of Companies, emphasized the need for education, the importance of acquiring knowledge, the need for a firm will and the determination to meet challenges that stand in women's way towards progress and excellence.

She was speaking at the monthly gathering of the American Women's Association (AWA) at the Westin Hotel, in the presence of Mrs. Catherine K. Sutphin, wife of the Consul General of the United States, Paul R. Sutphin and the Vice president of AWA. The occasion was also graced by over 200 ladies.

Mrs. Al Gurg commended the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE (MGPH), and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai (MGPH) and their brother Rulers, Their Highnesses, Members of the UAE's Supreme Council of Rulers and their continuous efforts in using all resources to enable the Emirati woman to participate in taking forward the wheels of growth and development.

She also reviewed the Emirati woman's professional and social journey and the significant position she occupies in society as a result of her achievements and the great efforts she makes to enhance and develop her capabilities, in addition to her awareness of the importance of education and her basic rights.

Mrs. Raja Easa Al Gurg also gave the audience a quick glimpse of her life and briefed them on her growth as a businesswoman.

She noted all the managerial positions that she occupied, including Board Member of the Dubai Chamber, Member of the Dubai Economic Council and President of the Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC).

She is also a representative at the U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative and has the honor of being selected as one among the four most influential businesswomen by Forbes Global magazine in April 2006.

About the Dubai Business Women Council:

Its mission is to proactively encourage business and professional women in Dubai to participate in a variety of business segments in order to enhance the contribution, productivity and activity of business and professional women locally and internationally.
Its objectives are the following:
1. To represent the DBWC at Arab and international conferences and forums related to business and professional women.
2. To cooperate with local and international institutions to increase awareness about the council and to share and contribute business ideas between the business women and different organizations.
3. To negotiate problems that women face at the workplace and find solutions and recommendations to solve these problems.
4. Providing facilities and introducing business women to the Dubai Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), its services and activities.
5. Organizing networking opportunities by inviting business women to participate in a variety of events organized by the Dubai Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
