DQG's continual improvement subgroup organises quiz competition to commemorate World Quality Day 2008

Organised by the recently launched DQG Continual Improvement Subgroup, the Quiz is open to all DQG members and other interested parties, and will cover topics related to TQM and business excellence, particularly on continual improvement.

World Quality Day celebrates the achievements of quality professionals and organisations around the world, while raising awareness of how quality-oriented approaches can enhance business performance. Furthermore, DQG has organised the event to underscore the important role of each individual and organisation in realising the benefits of quality approaches and tools for the entire business community.

The Quality Quiz Competition will serve as an interesting highlight that will underscore the knowledge and expertise DQG members have acquired through the various quality-oriented programs we have initiated," said Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman of DQG.

DQG has outlined a number of specific topics that may be included in the Quality Quiz Competition including general knowledge about the quality movement in the UAE like Dubai Government Excellence Program; ISO 9000 family of standards; excellence models like EFQM; Deming Prize; Lean; Six Sigma; Business Process Reengineering; benchmarking; Kaizen; and TQM philosophies and teachings of quality gurus such as Dr. W. Edwards Deming and Dr. Joseph Juran.

Also covered by the quiz are quality tools and techniques such as 7 new QC tools; Statistical Quality Control; Statistical Process Control; Theory of Constraints and TRIZ. Other topics included are project management, leadership and team building, cost of quality, people side of quality, Customer Relationship Management and customer surveys.

Organised with the theme "Team-up to be a quality champion!" the quiz is open to teams of three players plus one reserve. However, people involved in organising the event are not eligible to participate. The exact format of the quiz will be announced shortly.
