Citibank Bahrain has arranged a day out to Adhari Park with the Down syndrome kids in cooperation with the Down syndrome Care Center. Around 40 special need kids' age between 4y- 13y years participated with 170 staff along with their families.
Many Citi employees volunteer year-round in their communities. Global Community Day is an annual initiative to have company employees, along with their families and friends, come together as a global volunteer team on a single day each year. Local volunteer teams will be working in North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.
"On Global Community Day, Citi employees in more than 100 countries around the world will assemble to make a difference in their local communities," said Pamela Flaherty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Citi Foundation and Director, Corporate Citizenship. "In these difficult times, this community engagement is more important than ever because the needs are so great. Whether it is teaching financial education to young people; planting trees to combat deforestation; refurbishing schools in poor communities; or serving meals to the homeless, Citi employees will turn out to help - last year more than 60,000 strong. Global Community Day is one of many ways, from sound business practices to our Foundation programs, that Citi strengthens the communities where we live and work."
Mayank Malik, Citi Bahrain Chief Executive Officer, said:
"The Global Community Day is one way to demonstrate our resolve to fulfill our duty as a responsible corporate citizen in Bahrain and elsewhere in the region. We are committed to be an integral part of the Middle Eastern societies where we've maintained a presence for more than half-a-century, and we intend on being socially active and serving the community on an ongoing basis."
