Nahayan visits first Judicial Academy in the region

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Bin Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President of Zayed University visited the Academy for Judicial Studies and Specialized Training in Abu Dhabi.

It was developed by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and Zayed University; in accordance to a recently signed memorandum of understanding between the two parties, under which the university developed, updated and implemented new training programs for the Academy, in an effort to train new judges and prosecutors, and to enhance the professional development of current employees in Abu Dhabi's Judicial Department through several intensive legal training workshops designed to enhance their legal knowledge, practical skills, and strengthen their overall professional capacity to function within the Department.

His Excellency explained that justice issues top the agenda of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and that we have learned from the founder of the United Arab Emirates, the late President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, that there can never be any development or growth within any community or culture without justice, and we are very grateful that the late President Sheikh Zayed has laid down well established foundations and a strong base for justice through which the UAE has developed and evolved.

On his part Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice President of Zayed University stressed the importance of the cooperation with Abu Dhabi Judicial Department: "ZU is always keen on establishing relations with various institutions in different sectors in the UAE which aims to promote the process of national development, and cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department focuses on preparing and qualifying a new cadre of Emirati prosecutors, judges, and other legal professionals to perform and keep up with all the judicial, administrative, technical functions and developments that are taking place within the Judicial Department.

He added: "A team of experts from Zayed University worked on developing new curriculum for the Academy for Judicial Studies and Specialized Training, to facilitate the integration of knowledge trends in commercial and contemporary law in national and international legal practices, the curriculum involves intensive workshops, training sessions, and lively discussions about the world of law".

Dr. Al Jassim added: "As the first of it's kind within the region the academy's objective is to prepare and qualifying a new cadre of Emirati judges, prosecutors, and other legal professionals who will attain remarkable results via qualifying them to achieve an internationally recognized academic degree by regarding their study at the academy a part of the university curriculum. It will also grant the trainees an ideal opportunity for a combination between theoretical and analytical legal work which goes inline with the academy's aim of providing ongoing training of judges to ensure they are able to keep current with the rapid developments in the world of law".
