Abu Dhabi Women's College announces the Al Khaial Award

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 09 - 2008 at 16:17
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Higher Colleges of Technology's Abu Dhabi Women's College has announced the establishment of the Al Khaial Award which will recognize and celebrate the creative talent of ADWC students and alumnae.

The award was established by the college as a way of encouraging students to actively use their imaginations to create something of lasting value. This will be the first year for the award which will have a different theme each year to promote and encourage the use of creative talents and imagination.

The theme for this year's awards is "The Key" and ADWC's students and alumnae are challenged to create any kind of work related to this theme. The work can be in written form, such as poetry, an essay or a story; or it can be artwork or photography; or even a maths project. There are no restrictions on the submission as long as it addresses the theme of "The Key."

"One of HCT's graduate outcomes is to promote creative thinking in its students," stated Dr. Brad Cook, Director of ADWC. "The Al Khaial Award was established to encourage our students to use their imaginative skills in addition to their academic training.

We want our students to grow as academic scholars and as creative thinkers who can explore new ideas through the use of their imagination and their intellect."

Submissions for the Al Khaial Award will be held from 6th October to 20th November. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for 23rd December. Entries will be on exhibit throughout the College from 16th to 25th December.
