Dubai Women's College group visits DAMAC Properties for insight into world of business

A group of young business studies students from Dubai Women's College spent a morning finding out about life in the real world of business thanks to an invite from DAMAC Properties Dubai.

Chief Executive Peter Riddoch met the group of Business Administration students at the company's new headquarters at Executive Heights and spent a few hours talking to them about their projects and also giving them an insight into the fast moving world of one of the region's largest private master developers.

Russell Iffland, Business faculty at Dubai Women's College said the visit had proved to be most valuable for the students and that it had shown them how companies like DAMAC Properties Dubai had become so successful. The girls are completing a project about DAMAC Properties for their Business project.

"The students found the meeting with Mr Riddoch most enlightening and they were very grateful to him in sparing the time to meet and chat to them about their project,' she said.

"The chance to talk directly with the CEO of the company they are featuring in their project was a great opportunity for them and they were most interested in the information he was able to give them.'

In addition to meeting Mr Riddoch, the girls also met Mr Wael Abu Adas, Senior Vice President of Projects - who will be arranging for the students to visit a construction site at a later date.

Mr Riddoch said:
"It is always a pleasure to meet young people who are studying to become the businessmen and women of the future. The group from Dubai Women's College were very knowledgeable about DAMAC Properties as a company and it was a pleasure to be able to help them with their project. I look forward to seeing the end results with interest and hope they will all go to have successful careers in the world of business world."

2008 has been the 'Year of Construction' at DAMAC Properties, during which its businesses have aggressively focused on construction and contract delivery to trusted and quality contractors. An impressive AED2.5billion worth of contracts have been awarded in the first nine months of 2008. From initial consultants through to enabling and main contractors, the company has awarded more than 60 contracts in the first nine months of the year - showing that it means business when it comes to delivery. So far approximately AED2.1billion worth of contracts have been awarded by DAMAC Properties in Dubai, AED45million at projects in Abu Dhabi and a total of AED320million by DAMAC International in Qatar and Jordan.
In line with this, the company is making good progress at its major developments and has recently handed over 571 units at Lake Terrace in Jumeirah Lake Towers in Dubai and with the promise of delivery of 192 units at the Executive Heights project at TECOM in Dubai, 198 units in its Tera Del Sol developments in Discovery Gardens in Dubai, 536 units at LakeView in Jumeirah Lake Towers in Dubai and 847 units at The Crescent, located at IMPZ in Dubai, all before the end of 2008.
Approximately a further 7,100 units are planned for handover in 2009/10 across the region.
