Tech Data VP applauds infrastructure development and UAE position on Customs Union

Andy Gass, vice president for Tech Data EMEA, ended a one-week visit to Dubai with applause to the city, its people and its government.
On the business front, Gass renewed Tech Data's commitment to the Middle East, this being driven by the continued profitability of Tech Data FZ-LLC and its positive contribution to Tech Data Corporation. On the other hand, Gass explained that the in-flux of foreign direct investment to the region is highly dependent on governments' commitment to provide a healthy and certain business environment. "The recent initiatives taken by the GCC as a bloc can only have a positive influence on our business and investment decisions in the region. For example, a unified custom union, once fully formalized on the grounds, will take away a great deal of business misconduct, will ease the flow of products within the GCC countries, and most importantly, will greatly impact the cost of operations of companies involved in logistics management." He continued: "Specific to Dubai government, the speed and efficiency with which the migration to the GCC custom union has been is impressive and cannot but show, on the ground that the ambitions of its government are with no limits."
On the leisure front, Gass described Dubai city in its shopping festival as a hive. The diversity of cultural, leisure and shopping activities greatly induce in-coming businessmen to take part in the festival." He further said that the great care that has been given to transportation and communication infrastructure, the conglomerate of business concepts that Dubai is leading in the form of Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Jabal Ali Free Zone, among others, confirm that great leaders achieve great ideas.
Gass ended saying: "Despite all uncertainties, we firmly believe in the future of this region as an economic bloc and the viability of our current and future investments in Tech Data's operations in this region."
