"We made sure to include various activities that would benefit the industrial sector, including light and medium industries, which comprise of assembly industries, conversion industries, canning and packing, distribution and logistic support, as well as commercial activity for traders and service providers in the sectors of furniture, equipment and spare parts, electrical devices, home utensils and construction material, all within a total project investment of more than Dhs5bn."
Al Shakrah added: "All technical measurement and industrial safety standards were achieved to ensure the safety of the personnel, the goods and the warehouses through fire fighting systems and water sprinklers used by the Civil Defense department, and by having multiple entry points and exits. As for measurements used in the warehouses, all warehouses are thermally insulated and can be accessed from all directions. In addition, Civil Defense personnel's usage of design plans guarantees control over any incident with maximum speed. Warehouses are also fitted with water sprinklers to extinguish any accidental fire, as required by the Civil Defense department."
Al Hanoo Holding has recently finished the infrastructure work for Emirates Industrial City by 100%, and has fitted the project with all the basic services, such as water and electricity, the installation of natural gas pipes and a communication system, at a total cost of Dhs1.5bn. In addition, a complete network of paved roads of between 25-70 meters wide has been established, providing easy traffic flow between the various parts of the city. This is complemented by a 10 meter-wide road surrounding the city, which provides easy movement for heavy duty vehicles. Phase one of the project developments, already at 50%, is due to be complete in Q4 of 2009.
