A DNRD delegation participated in a series of workshops held in South Africa, which were organized by Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) in cooperation with a number of tourist companies in Dubai.

Major Mohammed Al Hammadi, Director of Entry Permits Department of DNRD, prepared a presentation explaining the strengthening South Africa-UAE relations which was clearly demonstrated by the increasing number of South African visitors and residents to Dubai. During the first nine months of 2008, 57,349 citizens of South African entered Dubai compared with 69,061 during the whole of last year 2007. Al Hammadi also introduced the variety of value-added services offered by DNRD to visitors who choose Dubai as their traveling destination.

"DNRD's participation in this workshops was a great opportunity to showcase e-services and present information on how we are facilitating procedures for those who visit Dubai,"
said Major Al Hammadi.

As per the new visa rules, there are various types of entry permits, including long-term and short-term visit visas. Others include festival, tourist, medical, conference and study visas, among others. The requirements for each type of visa vary according to their purpose. However, it is important to note that a health insurance policy is a must for all types of visas.
