Mr. Mohammed Al-Qaed, Chief Executive Officer of the eGovernment Authority said:
"The new board has been created to set guidelines and evaluate the criteria for firms and individuals who participate in the Bahrain eContent Awards. The committee will be responsible for the announcement of awards dates, receiving nomination of participants, announcement of results and for the granting of the awards during a ceremony scheduled for the beginning of 2009."
"The members of the committee represent a wide range of experience and expertise drawn from across the public and private sector in Bahrain. In forming this committee, we have taken into account both the experience of eGovernment and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in recognition of their respective contributions towards technology since the launch of Bahrain eContent awards in 2003. This also ensures that the technology requirements of the public sector will be understood."
"We were keen to have a cross-section of representatives from civil society and private sector institutions to ensure we maximize the experience of professional associations and private sectors in this area."
Mohamed Al Qaed added that the Bahrain Internet Society was invited to be part of the committee because of its experience and knowledge of the web industry.
Mr. Ahmed Al-Hujairi, Head of the Organizing Committee of the "Bahrain eContent Award", welcomed the announcement of the committee's formation, stressing that this would give wider opportunities for Bahrain to gain a firm footing into ICT markets through specific innovative projects.
The committee will hold a workshop for participants, to give them experience in the design and creation of e-content. The committee will provide those interested and willing to participate with details in order to ensure maximum participation.
