Mohamed Al Mulla, Coordinator General of the Ibda'a Media Students Awards, said:
"The response we have received so far for this edition of the Ibda'a Awards is overwhelming. The heightened awareness among media students worldwide has helped raise the global profile of the competition, complementing its overall stature. Over the years, we have witnessed exemplary works from some of the world's most creative and skilled youth. The Ibda'a Awards will continue to honor its commitment of offering a suitable platform for young talent to help them showcase and realize their aspirations on the international media arena."
The shortlisted candidates from overseas will be flown to Dubai where they will join UAE-based finalists for an exhibition of their work from 24-29 November, 2008 at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
During a gala awards ceremony scheduled on 27 November, winners will receive attractive prizes that will include internships with leading global media brands.
The Ibda'a Media Student Awards was launched by Dubai Media City in June 2001 with a mission to discover, showcase and foster young media talent.
Over the last seven years, it has received support from global media giants and leading media personalities.
