Lee Tabler, CEO, TDIC, explained:
"Desert Islands will take advantage of the global presence to formally launch the destination to the international market. Desert Islands aims to attract visitors from all over the world and our participation in WTM 2008 will offer us an immediate access to the industry professionals."
Tabler said, "The Desert Islands will provide a significant economic boost to the Western region and nationals residing there, by creating significant employment, education and investment opportunities."
Considered as one of Sheikh Zayed's greatest legacies, the island's wildlife reserve was created more than 25 years ago to ensure the survival of Arabia's endangered species. Sir Bani Yas is more than a tourist attraction; it is being managed sensitively with respect for, and with the aim of developing, the local culture and traditions. The first phase of the project witnessed the opening of Anantara's five-star, 64-room boutique Desert Islands Resort and Spa on Sir Bani Yas earlier in October.
