Spam, spyware, phishing, botnets and targeted email attacks have increased over the past few years as studies have revealed that the volume of such online threats has increased by up to 220%, while the risk of exposure to exploits and compromised websites has likewise surged by over 400%.
The IronPort Road Shows, which are organised in collaboration with Cisco, specifically aim to address this growing concern amid a widespread Internet and PC boom all over the Middle East.
"As our society becomes increasingly connected to the Internet, all people and organisations must understand the risks associated with exposure to compromised websites and malicious online content. Without adequate protection, we all can be easily victimised - and with really devastating effect. For instance, consider that backdoor and password stealing malware has increased by a staggering 855 per cent; this illegal activity involves theft of highly sensitive and often life-altering information. IronPort has taken the initiative to underscore the importance of this issue and to protect the online community from such criminal activities through IronPort's industry-leading security appliances,"
said Ray Kafity, Regional Sales Manager - Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan, IronPort Systems.
Enterprises are particularly vulnerable to online threats as companies in the Middle East have been reported to receive a barrage of spam on a daily basis, which make up to 90% of the nearly 1.5 million emails received everyday. Globally, spam accounts for 78% of the e-mails sent each day.
IronPort has been internationally regarded in the e-mail security appliance market, having been recognised by both Gartner and the Radicati Group.
In addition, IronPort is listed as the world's largest vendor of email security appliances by IDC as IronPort products protect more than 200 million mailboxes, including 42 of the world's 100 largest companies.
IronPort has recently rolled out the new IronPort C-Series and IronPort X-Series e-mail security gateways, as well as the new IronPort M-Series security management appliances, which feature advanced capabilities to effectively handle the increasing amount of spam worldwide.
The new appliances deliver a stunning 150% performance improvement over previous versions and offer up to five times the throughput of competitive solutions.
