There are many reasons for you to learn a new language:

Career growth:
Multi-lingual employees hold a distinct advantage in their ability to communicate with industry professionals from other countries.

Even though English is the international language of commerce, it still helps to break the ice by addressing a colleague in his native tongue.

Good for business:
Most foreign guests would not necessarily expect to be greeted in their own language, but guests will be given an immediate sense of connection, warmth and security if this happens. This helps to create an atmosphere that induces return business in the future.

It's edifying:
Guests are broadening their horizons through international travel.

By engaging with them on cultural turf that is familiar to them, you not only strengthen your business, but you also humanize your working environment.
