Kawasaki Heavy Industries establishes subsidiary in DAFZ

Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. has established a subsidiary in Dubai Airport Free Zone, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirming the emirate's role as a major hub for business in the Gulf and Middle East.

Ryo Yamasaki , Managing Director, Dubai Office said, "Kawasaki has always been targeting overseas markets with large operations in China, USA other European countries. We also have major partners in the Middle East region, however we feel our presence in Dubai would help us to earn more business."

Kawasaki Heavy Industries Middle East FZE is capitalized at Dhs1m (approximately 30,000,000 yen, wholly owned by Kawasaki Heavy Industries). The company's major operations, which will be marketing and sales begin this month. Initial number of employees will be four.
"The recent oil boom has fueled a number of projects currently being planned and implemented in the MENA region. Anticipating an increasing number of business opportunities in this region, Kawasaki has decided to establish a Group operational base that will cover the entire MENA region with an eye to enhancing its mobility."
The new subsidiary is located in the Dubai Airport Free Zone adjacent to the Dubai International Airport. Dubai, which serves as an operational base for many foreign companies. Dubai Airport Free Zone has become the information, transportation and financial hub of the Middle East.
Kawasaki has a proven track record in shipbuilding, constructing cement, fertilizer and other plants, as well as construction and industrial machinery sales in the MENA region. In addition to these existing businesses, Kawasaki plans to step up its group-wide sales activities in the region, focusing on transportation systems, gas turbines for power generation, and civil engineering machinery.

It is easily accessible to companies in the Dubai Airport Free Zone and has a capacity to handle over 500,000 tonnes of freight annually," he emphasized.
