In line with the decree issued by EIDA, all expatriates in the UAE should have an ID with ship card by 2010. EMP counters, along with agents, have been placed within the Emirates' offices. Employees are required to print and fill up a form that has been sent by email to them. This is followed by the payment of a pre-registration fee of Dhs40. Post sorting and data entry by the concerned EMP cell, an automated SMS will be sent to the employees informing them of the completion of pre-registration and requesting to proceed with the registration process.

For registration, the employee will return to the EMP counter and fill up a barcode incorporated form. This barcode will be associated with the employee's file. During submission the employees are required to give their photograph along with fingerprints.

After the data is processed, the employee will receive the ID card within two weeks by EMPOST courier.

Mr. Ahmad Tahlak, CEO - Emirates Marketing & Promotions (EMP), said:
"EMP is glad to be able to assist Emirates in fulfilling the EIDA requirement for their expatriate staff. We have established dedicated resources for this project and are aiming at successful completion. We have full confidence that this collaboration between Emirates Marketing & Promotions and Emirates will prove to be a stepping stone for future prospects between the two companies."

Abdulaziz Al Ali, Emirates Executive Vice President, Human Resources, said: "Emirates is pleased to partner with EMP on this initiative. By providing the UAE ID card processing service within our office premises, Emirates is enabling our large workforce to apply for their cards easily and conveniently and this will help facilitate compliance with the Federal requirement. We are confident that EMP's card processing facility at the Emirates Group Head Office will prove to be an efficient service, and that it will be welcomed by all of our staff."

Emirates Marketing & Promotions had successfully undertaken a similar operation for Dubai healthcare authority for approximately 40,000 employees.
