Trane wins key Dubai World Central Project

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 13 - 2008 at 11:26
  • PRESS RELEASE

Trane, a global provider of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible cooling & heating systems to homes and buildings around the world has been awarded the contract of supplying fifty of its internationally respected and award winning EarthWise Centrifugal chillers to Dubai's massive Dubai World Central airport development.

Article continues below

The Earthwise Centrifugal chiller is officially recognised as the world's most efficient chiller by the highly respected U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

"At over 100,000 tons, this is one of the largest single orders ever placed for chillers," noted Michel Farah, general manager for Trane Commercial Systems-United Arab Emirates and Gulf region.

He also added that the high efficiency and reliability of these chillers is a direct result of Trane's continued faith in low-speed, direct-drive technology.

The client also made the wise decision to select the 3-stage, 11kV, Duplex version, which is simply the world's most efficient and durable model on the market today.

As a result, it also has the lowest global warming potential of any equivalent machine.

Dubai World Central Project will be the world's largest passenger and cargo hub, with a design capacity of over 12 million tons of cargo and serving more than 120 million passengers per year.

It will be capable of handling all new-generation aircraft, including the A380 super-jumbo.

The airport, which will be ten times the size of the current Dubai International Airport and Dubai Cargo Village combined, will have six parallel runways and as many concourses.

It will also feature hotels and shopping malls, as well as state-of-the-art maintenance facilities.

In addition to the chillers, Trane Commercial Systems has been asked to provide the chiller controls and a wide range of supporting services.

Deliveries will commence in late 2008 and run in to 2009.
