Major agreement signed on the first day of Gitex Hyderabad

Gitex Hyderabad 2003, which was inaugurated by Mr. Pramod Mahajan, the Union IT Minister for Information Technology & Communications, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, is open to trade and professional visitors between 10 am to 7 pm from 22-24 January 2003 at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre.

Over 70 exhibitors from various national and international IT and telecom companies will be displaying their products and services at this expo.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his happiness towards the growing interest from the global IT&C sector in Andhra Pradesh due to successful international expos such as Gitex Hyderabad.

"Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a winner", said Mr. Mubarak bin Fahad, Director General of Dubai World Trade Center. Commenting on the increasing progress of the state in various fields such as IT&C, biotechnology, industry, infrastructure, Mr. Mubarak said that Dubai and Andhra Pradesh were successful examples of visionary leadership. He also added that Gitex Hyderabad has helped DWTC in expanding the sphere of operations to India and has also helped broaden the Indian IT industry by giving a window of opportunity to conduct business on a global scale.

During the exhibition, a MOU was exchanged between two of the many companies exhibiting their products and services, Canadian telecommunications company Talafone, and Hyderabad based Pioneer Online. The Joint Venture, which was signed in the presence of Mr. Pramod Mahajan, announces the formation of Pioneer Talafone Private Limited based in Hyderabad, where the company will offer its wide range of VOIP services in both retail and corporate Segments in India.

The merge between Talafone, Canada and Pioneer Online will revolutionize the international telecommunications system India. "The JV is the first success story at this edition of the exhibition. We are expecting many more successful deals and sales leads to result from this event," said Vijay Menon, International Projects Manager for Hyderabad, adding that the speed at which the JV took place reflects the significance of Gitex Hyderabad as an important IT event of the region.
