Qatargas hosts first SIGTTO Meeting in Qatar

Qatargas has recently hosted the Society of International Gas Tanker & Terminal Operators Ltd. (SIGTTO) 29th Board Meeting and Annual General Meeting in Doha, Qatar.

This is the first time the meetings have been hosted by Qatargas. As well as hosting the meeting, the visiting Board members will visit Ras Laffan Industrial City including the Ras Laffan Port and Qatargas' Headquarters.

SIGTTO is a non-profit organization established to promote high operating standards and best practices in the gas tanker and terminal industry. It also provides technical advice and support to its member companies. Qatargas has been a member of SIGTTO since 1996.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Sulaiti, Qatargas Shipping Manager and SIGTTO Board member, said:
"It is a great honour for Qatargas to host these meetings and visits. We are committed to working with SIGTTO and other industry bodies to ensure the highest standard of operations remain a priority in our industry. Meeting such standards is also a core commitment of Qatargas so that we can continue to meet our commitments to safely and reliably deliver energy to our customers around the world."


At the Board meeting some of the key topics discussed included the challenges facing the industry such as recruitment and training of staff, technology issues and safety and environmental matters such as emissions.
