He said that building a statistical database constitutes a key pillar in executing the Federal Government's strategy of developing a national statistical system, and contributing to policy- and decision-making in the UAE by providing data that complies with international standards and reflects the economic growth of the UAE.

Al Mansouri said that this survey will be conducted periodically by statistics authorities according to international recommendations.

The key objectives of the survey are to identify the number of institutions per sector and economic activity as well as identifying the workforce volume per gender, nationality and educational qualification.

The survey will also evaluate salaries paid according to professional groups and gender, and identify the number of paid working hours as per professional groups, sectors, gender and employment numbers.

The survey is being undertaken in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Statistics Center and Dubai Statistics Center, signaling the importance of cooperation and coordination between federal and local entities to build the modern statistical system.

The Minister of Economy invited all concerned organizations to cooperate with researchers by providing them with necessary data.

Rashid Khamees Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Statistics, explained that survey samples will be representative of all businesses and institutions in the UAE.

The survey will be conducted taking into consideration the size of the business in terms of workforce and economic activities undertaken.

He added that the preparation phase has started in the first quarter of the year, whereby the organizational framework has been updated.

The next phase includes reviewing data and classifying it statistically, scheduling it, extracting primary results and preparing the scientific material and statistical information for publishing.
