BT to discuss new ways of running IT at airports to maximise value of technology

BT's Senior Consultant for the Aviation industry, Robert Cook, is set to address senior airport and airline executives, CEOs and key decision-makers at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2008 on transforming an airport's IT&T Department into revenue generating operations business, focused on customer service.

Mr Cook said:
"To accommodate expansion and the growing airport traffic in the Middle East, strategies should focus on revenue generation and customer service using proven technology with top-level capabilities."


The presentation will include the methodical approach to business services delivery through strategic application of best practices, process and procedures for the transition to a customer-centric, self-supporting Business Services Group.

The functions of the Business Services Group is to provide leadership for Product Development & Management, Marketing, Sales & Contract Negotiation, Help Desk Provisioning and Billing for all the airport's IT&T products and services. It caters to all segments of the airport authority, such as airlines, ground transportation, fire, police, security, government agencies, and retailers.

Mr Cook is a seasoned business leader with extensive business and management experience, recognized as a commercial General Manager and Director, proficient in strategic business analysis and development of creative marketing initiatives. His varied assignments include initial concept through strategic definition and business model development. Current projects range from customer experience management, revenue generation initiatives through to application of innovative technologies.

The three-day international conference and exhibition is dedicated to worldwide airport terminal design, development, security and technologies, with a special focus on Middle East airports during the conference. It will run from the 16th - 18th of November at the Beach Rotana Hotel and Towers, Abu Dhabi.
