Citi expects more than 40,000 volunteers will be participating in hundreds of projects around the world in 100 countries.

Citibank Qatar arranged a day out for kids with Diabetes in cooperation with the Qatar Diabetes Association. Around 40 children between 4- 13 years of age participated with 30 Citibank staff and their families in an outing to a children's amusement centre in Doha. As part of the awareness campaign about Diabetes, a special talk was given to the kids about how to stay healthy and a simple check up was also conducted on site.

Many Citi employees volunteer year-round in their communities. Global Community Day is an annual initiative to have company employees, along with their families and friends, come together as a global volunteer team on a single day each year. Local volunteer teams will be working in North America, Asia Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa on a variety of projects addressing specific community needs including literacy, housing, environmental protection, nutrition, and health care.

"On Global Community Day, Citi employees in more than 100 countries around the world will assemble to make a difference in their local communities," said Pamela Flaherty, President and Chief Executive Officer, Citi Foundation and Director, Corporate Citizenship. "In these difficult times, this community engagement is more important than ever because the needs are so great. Whether it is teaching financial education to young people; planting trees to combat deforestation; refurbishing schools in poor communities; or serving meals to the homeless, Citi employees will turn out to help - last year more than 60,000 strong. Global Community Day is one of many ways, from sound business practices to our Foundation programs, that Citi strengthens the communities where we live and work."

Farhan Mahmood, Citi Qatar Chief Executive Officer, said:
"We are very proud to participate along with the rest of Citi worldwide in our Global Community Day. The Global Community Day is one way to demonstrate our resolve to fulfill our duty as a responsible corporate citizen in Qatar and elsewhere. This event also recognizes our thousands of employees globally who volunteer on a regular basis throughout the year."
