EMC solidifies position as De Facto market leader in next generation enterprise content management
- Middle East: Saturday, November 15 - 2008 at 12:33
- PRESS RELEASE
EMC Corporation, one of the world leaders in information infrastructure solutions, has further solidified its position as the de facto market leader in next-generation enterprise content management (ECM) - launching a wave of new thought leadership and product enhancements at the company's annual customer and partner conference, Momentum Prague 2008.
• The unveiling of early access release software, that implements the recently announced Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) specification, for use with EMC Documentum Content Server
• First time introduction of several international languages for the company's premier customer communication management (CCM) software, EMC Document Sciences xPression
• Ongoing success of the EMC Documentum CenterStage Essentials beta program, designed to bring the value of ECM to all knowledge workers across the enterprise
"For more than 18 years, EMC has been the market's thought leader in enterprise content management," said Mohammed Amin, Regional Manager, EMC Middle East & North West Africa. "From offering one of the market's first content management solutions for the Web 2.0 enterprise to driving new standards for interoperability in multi-vendor environments, EMC continues to deliver solutions that customers need to be successful in today's competitive business environment. Our announcements at Momentum take this vision one step further - cementing our leadership and position in enterprise content management."
EMC and Content Management Interoperability Services
Less than two months ago, EMC—in conjunction with a host of other ECM vendors—announced a jointly developed specification that leverages Web Services and Web 2.0 interfaces enabling applications to interoperate within multiple ECM repositories by different vendors. Currently, customers must spend valuable time and money to create and maintain custom integration code and one-off integrations to get ECM systems within their organizations to "talk" to one another. The ultimate goal of CMIS is to dramatically reduce the IT burden around managing these multi-vendor, multi-repository environments.
The CMIS specification is currently with OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) which recently formed a CMIS Technical Committee to advance CMIS as an open standard and promote its implementation.
Today, EMC is unveiling early access release software of EMC Documentum's implementation of CMIS.
EMC Documentum CenterStage Essentials Beta Program
In the new Web 2.0 world, customers are looking to work with corporate information in an easy-to-use, easy-to-find and easy-to-interact format. Launched this past July, CenterStage Essentials is a new client for knowledge workers - providing a dynamic collaborative workspace that lets employees share content, manage workgroups, track changes and annotate shared documents with comments.
Currently, EMC boasts more than 300 enterprise customers enrolled in its CenterStage Essentials beta program. Users continue to praise the solution's ability to provide a range of information viewing options, allowing them to browse files in an "image carousel," scan thumbnails or click through folders in the traditional list view.
"Overall, we've found that EMC Documentum CenterStage Essentials has the potential to dramatically enhance end-user productivity and improve team collaboration with its support for individual and team workspaces," said Tom Rothwell, Head of Information Management at Fujitsu. "At the same time, we're finding that the solution meets our own IT needs for robust security and extensive self-administration capabilities, which reduces the dependence on IT resources."
CenterStage Essentials and xPression -- as well as products recently introduced as part of EMC Documentum ECM 6.5 -- will be demonstrated during the conference keynote sessions and throughout the exhibit floor. In addition, there will be more than 50 partners showcasing their products and services that integrate and leverage EMC's market-leading content management and archiving solutions.
