MASTECH 2008 & Techno Maritime Awards 2008 - success of an Alumni Association

MASTECH 2008; was a two day international maritime technical conference organized by MAST (Middle East Alumni of Ship Technology) on the 12th and 13th of November 2008 at Hotel Crowne Plaza, Dubai. MASTECH 2008 got world wide coverage through Marine BizTV. It was supported by BizTV Events; the concepts division of Marine BizTV. The conference was attended by over 300 renowned maritime professionals from across the industry.

MASTECH 2008 had a digital show occurring concurrently with the conference. The digital show showcased the latest trends in the maritime industry. Digital Show is the unique concept of Marine BizTV. The exhibitor can do business with any parts of the world right on the show floor by entering into Marine BizTV's digital show. An exhibition of this concept was an unprecedented one.

MAST is an alumni association formed by the students passed out from the Dept. of Ship Technology; University of CUSAT. MASTECH 2008 is organized in connection with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of MAST. To mark the celebrations; MASTECH 2008 had Techno Maritime Awards 2008 on the 13th November 2008 after the conference. Techno Maritime Awards 2008 witnessed 19 Awards of various categories. The Award Nite was to honor the excellent contributions towards UAE maritime industry. The function was attended by over 1000 delegates of maritime industry from different parts of the world. To honor the Award Nite; a global gathering of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers was also organized on the same venue. Various variety entertainment programs added color and glamour to the function. Techno Maritime Awards 2008 Nite was a feast to all the eyes.

MASTECH 2008 received tremendous support various sponsors such as Drydocks World- Dubai, Albwardy Marine Engineering, Emirates Trading Agency, Clarkson Technical Services, Emarat Maritime, HICO Group and from various other supporting sponsors. The function concluded with photo sessions of the Award winners and with the announcement of next MASTECH. The next MASTECH would be in 2010.
