The workshop, held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Dubai, was attended by Mr. Abdul Basit Al Janahi, CEO, Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders; Farid Karmostaji, Director of Export Market Development, EDC; officials from both organisations and a large number of SME's members.

Mr. Abdul Basit Al Janahi, SME's CEO, said that the Establishment always seeks to offer all types of support and development to its members in a way that reflects positively on their businesses. In the same context, he lauded the workshop and the information it presented about EDC, noting that the event has created a feeling of satisfaction among the audience.

"As the Dubai Government body charged with promoting exports from the Emirate, EDC has designed various tools to help Dubai and UAE companies expand their businesses outside the country," said Karmostaji. "EDC has a clear vision of being a leading, innovative and global corporation that aims at developing Dubai's export and diversifying its economic growth through providing businesses with high quality export services."

Karmostaji stressed that EDC, with the aim of supporting the targets and goals set in Dubai's Strategic Plan 2015, has introduced key performance indicators (KPIs). These KPIs are represented by the growth of exports value, the increase in number of companies exporting goods and the number of exporting companies penetrating new markets, in addition to the supporting exporters to enhance their performance and exporters' satisfaction survey.

The workshop also included EDC's Exporter Assistance Executive Sameer Husain's presentation about the Corporation's vision, objectives and its most important achievements and future plans. He also reviewed the most significant export markets during the previous and current years, the growth rates in these markets and the most targeted products, in addition to the appropriate way for linking exporters with buyers.
