Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces appoints Helmut H Meckelburg to Regional Director Middle East and North Africa

Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, South Asia's largest Hotel Chain of Luxury Hotels and authentic, historical Palaces announces the appointment of Helmut H Meckelburg as the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa based in Dubai effective July 1. 2008.

In his new role as Regional Director Middle East and North Africa he will oversee and assist in the development and opening of new Taj Hotels in the region.

Within the next 18 month Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces will open new luxury hotels on the Palm Jumeirah, in Ras Al Khaima, and Abu Dhabi.

Other developments in Qatar and Morocco are underway and signed.

Presently, the company is negotiating management contracts in Egypt, Oman, KSA and other countries in the region.

H. Meckelburg has been with Taj Hotels since 2001 as General Manager and later Area Director in India, returned to Dubai in 2005 as General Manager for the Taj Palace Hotel.

Prior to this he had worked with Hilton Hotels Corporation at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and the Los Angeles Hilton, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, South Korea and Egypt and was also the General Manager of the Royal Abjar Hotel in Dubai.

He holds a Bachelors Degree in Hospitality Management and an MBA from Camden University.

He enriched his studies in specialized courses at Cornell School for Hotel Administration in Ithaka New York and UCLA in Los Angeles.
