The programme seeks to harness the participants' analytical, communication, comprehension and social skills through interaction and discussions of highly informative and thought-provoking books.

The participants reviewed, discussed and analysed the book "Turn Around: How Carlos Ghosn Rescued Nissan." The book was written by business journalist David Magee exploring the career of Ghosn as a successful leader in the automotive industry. Ghosn was credited for the turnaround of Michelin-Brazil, Michelin-USA, Renault-France and "The Nissan Rescue", one of the most spectacular business turnarounds of all time. The book also provided an insight on Ghosn's highly successful signature management style called "Cross-Functional Teams".

Adel Al Shared, Director of MBRPLD, said:
"The Book Summary Review primarily seeks to cultivate the participants' interest in reading books and ultimately help them develop a healthy reading habit. Books and other reading materials are important resources and tools for leaders to remain well informed and aware of the latest developments. They also provide inspirations and ideas like what has been offered by Magee's book. We are pleased that the Book Summary Review has delivered a tremendous impact on the participants, who all have actively participated in all the activities of session."

Esam Khamis Alflassi, Road and Transport Authority, Deputy Director of UAFC and System Management Manager, said: "I find reading books an excellent complementary initiative to the various training activities under the Government Leaders Program. As such, I consider it a truly wise decision for MBRPLD to establish the Book Summary Review as it focuses on improving the participants' reading proficiency. Our session with the book "Turn Around: How Carlos Ghosn Rescued Nissan" was particularly a very enriching activity as it introduced us to various concepts and ideas that have a huge impact on our development as leaders of the society."

Government Leaders Program is a level of MBRPLD that aims to qualify the future leaderships of Dubai Government departments by establishing an assembly of talented individuals with distinguished potentials, knowledge, skills and experience at all departments of Dubai Government. MBRPLD has been established in line with the vision and directions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; the initiator of the MBRPLD initiative who has underscored the critical importance of a highly competent national professional workforce to ensure the country's global sustainability.
