Durrat Marina appoints Waleed Saffy as CEO

The step is described as a quality addition to the award-winning development's executive team of the company.

Prior to joining "Durrat Marina", Mr. Saffy was the General Manager of Al-Areen Holding Company, the developer of the multibillion dollar Al-Areen Desert Spa & Resort development project.

The world famous Banyan Tree Desert SPA & Resort, Al Areen and the Lost Paradise of Dilmun water park projects are only two of the main tasks among others accomplished under his leadership at Al Areen.

Prior to that, Mr.Saffy (civil engineering background) held various positions in the engineering directorate at the Civil Aviation Affairs of the Ministry of Transportation. He presided different departments including the Airport Projects, Planning and Support Services. His outstanding performance and leadership won him key positions, the latter of which was Director of Engineering and Maintenance until September 2005.

Mr. Ahmed Al-Qattan, board member and the head of the executive committee of Durrat Marina, commented: "Mr. Saffy has a long experience in leading executive teams that were responsible for developing projects, marketing, and managing human resources affairs. Commenting on this development, Durrat Marina's Board Member Mr. Jassim Al-Jowder, said: "The Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Mr. Saffy. The appointment of Mr. Saffy came a few days after Durrat Marina announced the winning of CNBC Award as the best marina project in the region. The Company received a 5-star recognition.

The 600,000 sqm Durrat Marina development is located within the seaside resort of Durrat Al Bahrain in the southern part of the Kingdom. It is a mix use leisure and retail Marina development project that will accommodate the largest and the most sophisticated marina facilities in the region.
