Lufthansa Technik presents niceview

At the 2008 Middle East Business Aviation exhibition Lufthansa Technik presents niceview, its latest innovation in the field of infotainment (passenger flight information and moving map system).

niceview provides worldwide high-resolution 3-D maps and virtual flight views as well as a multitude of informative screens. The system utilizes the latest 3-D rendering technologies and offers a vast choice of data options compared to previous generations of moving map and in-flight information systems. High Definition Video Output (HDTV) ensures first-rate video quality.

With niceview, passengers will not only be enjoying in-flight entertainment, but will also stay informed about their entire journey. Every passenger can experience a virtual 3-D view from a window seat or from the cockpit, no matter if it is day or night and independent of any weather condition. Also, any information data received by niceview from aircraft systems can be configured to be shown on aircraft displays as overlays, including ticker or banner views. Additionally, niceview is able to show pictures, movies, and multi-channel audio.

Safety briefings, language translations and geographical or geopolitical data can be integrated. Due to niceview™īs broad spectrum of automatically triggered information features, the cabin crew will be able to fully concentrate on taking care of the passengers.

niceview can be customized with a system management application. This flexible tool enables Lufthansa Technik to configure viewing sequences and content data. The list of options include the loading and changing of customer pictures, movies and audio data, safety briefings, airport information as well as boarding music and audio announcements. The changes can be uploaded to the on board system via USB as well as wireless or wired Ethernet connections.

Lufthansa Technik's business unit Innovation has established a niceview™ customer care call and technical support center for technical and maintenance support. With the help of a niceview™ system mock-up the support team can troubleshoot specific customer configurations while speaking directly to the aircraft operator.
