DUBAL all set to welcome Dubai Ladies Masters tee party
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 17 - 2008 at 11:13
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Aluminium Company Limited (DUBAL) is set to welcome a stellar cast when the 2008 Dubai Ladies Masters gets under way at the Emirates Golf Club from December 8 to 14 as DUBAL's involvement in the game was extended when the company became the Main Sponsor of the Dubai Ladies Masters.
This year's Ladies' European Tour season-ending event is particularly significant as Sorenstam, arguably the greatest women's golfer of all-time, will be playing her last competitive event before "stepping aside" from the game she has dominated for years.
The 2008 Dubai Ladies Masters, promoted and organized by 'golf in DUBAi', is already shaping up to be one of the most emotionally-charged sports events ever contested in the UAE.
The Ladies European Tour has been working diligently on a number of celebrations for both Sorenstam's final tournament, and the 30th anniversary of their tour, which now visits 22 countries worldwide. There will be many Swedish golf representatives, members of the media and VIP's attending the event to take in Sorenstam's final shots.
The most enthusiastic welcome to Sorenstam, the other players and spectators will come from the aluminium giant, DUBAL. Reflecting its established reputation as a strong supporter of the Dubai community, DUBAL has been the main sponsor of the Dubai Desert Classic Golf Tournament since 1992; and has played an instrumental role in the event's recognition on the world stage as one of the premier golf tournaments.
The first-class spectator village will provide the ideal setting for the family to spend the day together; and when parents would like to watch the on-course action, their children can be left in capable hands at the junior golf clinics provided by certified UAE PGA Professionals.
Mohammed A Yahya, Manager Corporate Relations and International Affairs, DUBAL, said: "We are delighted to be the Main Sponsor of the Dubai Ladies Masters again. It's a role we have enjoyed since the LET Tour event made its début in Dubai three years back. We firmly believe that the € 200,000 event will help promote the DUBAL brand to a world-wide audience as well as to our key market audience.
"We are particularly proud that our support for the Dubai Desert Classic has helped raise Dubai's profile in the world golfing community," Yahya added. "Today, the name of Dubai has become synonymous with golf -- and a great deal of the city's popularity as a golf destination is due to the success of events like the Dubai Desert Classic and the Dubai Ladies Masters Golf Tournaments."
Commissioned in 1979, DUBAL's Jebel Ali facility has grown into one of the world's largest and most successful primary aluminium producers. The company currently has a production capacity of about 960,000 tonnes per year.
'golf in Dubai' is backed by DUBAL (its Main Partner) along with Emirates-NBD, MasterCard, Jumeirah Hotels, Emirates airline, BMW, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Gulf News, Omega and CNN. These partners collectively support 'golf in Dubai' in its drive to showcase the Emirate's vibrant golfing sector to a worldwide audience.
