Standard Chartered's 150th anniversary community programme starts with blood donation

Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE is planning to stage a two-day blood donation drive among its Dubai staff to launch a series of community relations programmes as part of the bank's 150th anniversary celebrations.

"Part of our anniversary programme is to ensure we give something back to the community we serve," said Ray Ferguson, Standard Chartered Bank's Chief Executive Officer for the UAE. "The blood donation drive will be the first of many other community initiatives which will be rolled out throughout the Emirates in this important anniversary year."

The blood donation drive, which will be held next Wednesday and Thursday, January 29th and 30th, will see volunteers from Standard Chartered's 700-strong Dubai workforce donating blood in the mobile blood unit of the Federal Ministry of Health. The unit will be parked at Standard Chartered's Dubai headquarters in Bur Dubai.

Standard Chartered Bank this year celebrates its 150th anniversary as an international institution. The bank has been operating in the UAE for 45 years.

"We anticipate a good response from our staff who are committed to supporting our anniversary year initiatives and becoming more involved in serving the local community and its needs," said Ferguson.
