- PRESS RELEASE
Following on from last year's success at the World Travel Awards - also known as the travel industry's 'Oscars' - Qatar Airways has scooped two more prestigious accolades.
The Leading Airline Lounge award was in recognition of Qatar Airways' Premium Terminal - a dedicated facility at Doha International Airport for First and Business Class passengers -which opened less than two years ago.
The airline picked up the awards at a presentation ceremony during World Travel Market - one of the world's biggest travel exhibitions - held in London. Qatar Airways fought off stiff competition from its regional neighbours to win the illustrious accolades.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker expressed his delight that travel industry peers recognised the airline once again for its premium service on the ground and in the air.
"Winning these two awards just goes to prove that, once again, Qatar Airways is seen by the travel industry as the preferred airline in the Middle East for frequent corporate travellers."
"Being awarded the title for Middle East's Leading Business Class Airline for the second year in a row demonstrates consistency in the airline's superior business class product and quality service over and above its competition.
"The Premium Terminal, dedicated solely to Qatar Airways' First and Business Class passengers, is a world first offering exceptional facilities ranging from exclusive check-in, duty-free shopping and conference space to spa, Jacuzzi and fine dining restaurants."
Added Al Baker: "Winning this award for the region's leading airline lounge reinforces the fact that the terminal is seen as the benchmark not only in the Middle East, but also the world.
"These two awards are recognition that Qatar Airways continues to lead what is a highly competitive aviation industry by offering the most innovative premium services to our valued customers."
Qatar Airways operates a young and modern fleet of 64 Boeing and Airbus aircraft serving 83 cities across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America. It currently has outstanding orders for more than 200 aircraft worth over $30bn.
