Jacky's launches Security Products Division

  • PRESS RELEASE

Electronics retail giant, Jacky's, continues its expansion with the formal launch of its Security Products Division, a specialised business unit dedicated to the growing market for high-tech security equipment in the Gulf region.

The Security Products Division, part of Jacky's Middle East LLC, was born out of a perceived need for local providers of sophisticated security products for both domestic as well as commercial use, said Soni Tolani, Executive Director, Jacky's Electronics LLC. "Jacky's, through its alliances with some of the world's foremost manufacturers of security equipment, is capable of locally meeting that demand from all sectors," he said.

The division, formed in November 2002, offers the gamut of security equipment - from surveillance products for large household compounds, to visionary detection devices for organisations operating in high risk areas. The core range of products offered, through its alliance with the UK-based portable security company, Sensor, utilises passive infra-red technology to detect intrusion.

Among these is the CamCone, a cone-shaped all-weather system with a single passive infra-red detection head with a 40 metre range. Attached to a wireless radio system and capable of transmission over 10kms, it is designed to sense temperature differences as well as movement.

Ideal for military, local authority, or commercial application is the SensorEye range. These rapid deployment camera systems include among their features motion detection, radio transmission systems, local and central monitoring capabilities, and encryption to block interception.

Jacky's Security Products Division will be showcasing some of the world's most sensitive and sophisticated security equipment at InterSec 2003, which opens in Dubai today (Monday). Making its debut at the exhibition is TrueEYETM, an iris identification system which can be used in areas where high security is a necessity - such as laboratories and data centres, at airport immigration and the cockpit of aircraft.

TrueEYETM is the latest addition to Jacky's growing family of biometric access control systems and has been included because more and more companies are looking into better solutions to oversee certain personnel functions. Time and attendance is another important area and increasingly companies are turning away from the traditional methods of monitoring this and opting instead for biometric solutions.

The HandPunch® 3000, for example, which uses hand geometry biometric technology, captures a three-dimensional image of the hand each time the employee punches in. This is verified against the imprint of the employee's hand size and shape obtained through a minute-long registration process.
