  • PRESS RELEASE

Yemen's national carrier Yemenia is the latest to sign up for FASTRAC, the revenue accounting solution for small and medium-sized airlines developed by Mercator, the Emirates Group IT division.

Yemenia is the first Middle East airline to opt for the widely-used system, continuing last year's long run of contract successes for Dubai-based Mercator

The deal builds on Mercator's recent agreements with Air Pacific and Air Malawi, and more are due to be signed shortly.

FASTRAC is on offer as separate stand-alone passenger and cargo revenue accounting solutions or integrated into one combined system, the version which Yemenia is taking. Implementation is due to start soon.

The deal is expected to bring the airline significant business benefits in support of its ambitious growth plans, helping it to realise revenues quickly and accurately, reduce revenue accounting costs, maximise productivity and enhance commercial confidence.

Captain Mohammed Al Sumairi, Yemenia Deputy Managing Director for Operation & Technical, said: "We carried out a rigorous evaluation, and FASTRAC was clearly the solution most in tune with our needs.

"Powerful revenue accounting functionality, Mercator's industry expertise, and its extensive local market knowledge made it our natural choice. FASTRAC will now become a key part of our drive to transform Yemenia into a highly-competitive regional airline."

The comprehensive revenue accounting solution selected by Yemenia has modules for sales, uplifts, proration and interline billing, and provides the swift revenue determination, accurate invoicing and timely information crucial to corporate decision making.

Captain AbdulKhalek Saleh Al Qadhi, Yemenia's Chairman, said: "This is the beginning of a long term relationship, and we look forward to working closely with Mercator and the Emirates Group well into the future."

Yemenia has been flying scheduled passenger and cargo services for more than 50 years, and its routes now span the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Europe. Today it serves 30 cities with the latest Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

Hugh Pride, Director IT at Mercator, said: "FASTRAC has aroused real enthusiasm in the airline industry since we launched it a year ago, and this new contract reinforces our view that, for small and medium sized airlines, it's simply the best on the market.

"It will enable Yemenia to automate its revenue accounting, and its functionality will boost cash flow, slash costs, stamp out fraud and enhance strategic decision-making - all vital to building and maintaining an edge in commercial aviation today."
