The study visit gave the students the opportunity to meet and question senior Investcorp managers and tour the New York offices to find out more about the company and its operations in North America and internationally.
Investcorp is a platinum sponsor of CPISP and invites students every year to visit both its New York and London offices giving them the opportunity to find out at firsthand about the challenges and rewards of working in the alternative investment industry.
The students who visited comprised a mixed group of undergraduates from top tier US Universities, including Yale, Princeton and Columbia, who are studying subjects such as economics, engineering, journalism and finance, plus a number of PhD students studying subjects as diverse as human genetics and mathematics.
Lines of business presentations were made to the students on private equity by James Egan, Managing Director, New York; on real estate by Peter Petron, Principal, New York; on hedge funds by Christopher Acito, Managing Director, New York; on the technology investment group by Andrew Flett, Principal, New York and on placement and relationship management by Khalid Al-Rumaihi, Managing Director and Head of Institutional Placement, Bahrain.
Chris O'Brien said:
"I should like to congratulate CPISP on their excellent work in preparing these talented young students for the future. Investcorp is very proud to support this scholarship program in addition to the internships that we have offered to many young Bahraini students in recent years."
Last year Investcorp hosted four students to work on a 10-week summer-long project as part of CPISP's ongoing Action Learning Program.
Meanwhile UK-based CPISP students will visit Investcorp's London offices at the end of January.
CPISP Program Director, Dr. Ron Koller, accompanied the students on their visit and expressed his appreciation of the strong support Investcorp has shown the Program for many years:
"I would like to thank Investcorp and all our sponsors for their support, which has ensured the continued success of our Program. We greatly appreciate Investcorp's involvement with our Program and students, and for hosting events like this which give talented young Bahrainis the opportunity to find out about the success factors that lie behind one of Bahrain's most renowned international companies."he said.
The Bahraini students ended their day when Investcorp treated the group to a traditional New York experience - a visit to see a top Broadway show.
