The Arabian Gulf Yachting Awards have been established to recognise the outstanding contributions of companies to the growth of the GCC's leisure yachting market.
The event also seeks to encourage Gulf-based boat builders, charter services, clubs and other stakeholders to actively contribute in efforts to drive the growth of the regional yachting sector and related industries.
said Ali Al Daboos, Chief Operating Officer, Dubai Maritime City.'Dubai Maritime City is honoured to be named as the Best Industry Initiative in the Middle East - Most Anticipated Project by the Arabian Gulf Yachting Awards 2008. The award clearly indicates the growing reputation of Dubai Maritime City as a symbol of the future aspirations of the regional maritime industry and underscores the maritime centre's significant impact on the continued development of the yachting community. The Arabian Gulf Yachting Awards feted winners in a total of 18 categories, highlighting various achievements that have made a significant impact on the leisure yachting market in 2008.
It was the second consecutive year for the event to hand out awards to distinguished personalities and organisations.
Dubai Maritime City is an integrated maritime facility that caters to all requirements of the global maritime industry, including the region's fast-growing boating community through a wide range of services such as boat lifts, hull cleaning and general maintenance among others.
The maritime complex is divided into six expertly master planned precincts - Harbour Offices, Harbour Residences, Maritime Centre, Marina District, Industrial Quarter and Dubai Maritime City Campus, each designed to provide world-class infrastructure facilities to different maritime industry players.
Dubai Maritime City also offers investors and business organisations highly attractive economic incentives such as free-zone benefits, responsive government support, a tax-free business environment and an effective port structure.
To complement the establishment of Dubai Maritime City, the Dubai Maritime City Authority was also created to act as the premier regulatory authority for all maritime activities within Dubai.
In addition, Dubai Maritime City Authority also launched the 'Raseina' service, which facilitates the issuance of all maritime trade licenses in Dubai.
The move is a part of several initiatives aimed at providing a central point of access for all maritime-related services and activities in the emirate.
