- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, November 20 - 2008 at 10:51
- PRESS RELEASE
The remarkable China Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe (CDPPAT), which has drawn standing ovations for their 'My Dream' spectacular at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi this week, have been demonstrating their abilities to students with special needs at the emirate's Future Centre.
The visit to the centre, arranged by 'My Dream' sponsor the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, brought an enthusiastic response from the students who laughed, smiled throughout the performances and give sincere rounds of applause.
"It has been very rewarding for all involved," said Mowfaq M. Mustafa, Director of Future Centre. "We took a party of 30 of our students to watch the full show at Emirates Palace and they were all enthralled. This has been the clearest demonstration yet of how cultures can be bridged and how the arts can appeal to all, including those with special needs."
ADTA Chairman, His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan commented said the authority's sponsorship of the Troupe's visit to Abu Dhabi was a demonstration of the emirate's inclusive approach to cultural education and development.
And, in a message to the Chinese performers, he told them: "Everyone who has seen you perform in Abu Dhabi this week has been moved by your exceptional love of life and enthusiasm for your art. We have all been impressed by your ability to deliver a world-class show despite your individual circumstances. You are indeed an inspiration to us all - able-bodied and the more physically challenged alike."
