Mohammed Jassim Al Eraidi, Director of Public Libraries Department said the service called Self Learning gives the users opportunity to learn e-software with the help of sound and picture and the users are provided with the easiest ways and simplest steps helping them to use the most notable programmes such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Windows XP, and Microsoft Visio.
For the service called Discover Dubai, he said, the Umm Suqeim e-library has set aside a corner for publicity materials of the city of Dubai, where the surfer can find whatever he or she needs to know about Dubai.
Al Eraidi said maps and information about tourist areas and hotels in the emirate are provided, in addition to computers for searching using the where the visitor can find a lot of information about tourism in Dubai.
The visitors are also given an opportunity to benefit from the e-services offered by all government departments of Dubai such as information about fines, adding balance in Salik account, issuance of visit visas, brief about flight data, and other services.
"We are currently having coordination with the Naturalization and Residency Department for us to be supplied with the equipment for this purpose. Our focus is to provide more services that are on demand from the customers of the e-library,"Al Eraidi said.
"Providing these kinds of services are considered steps towards achieving the vision of Public Libraries Department that conforms with the vision of Dubai Government," he added.
