Abdulla J M Kalban, President and CEO, Dubal, addressed the gathering.
Commenting on the service milestones, Khalid E Buhumaid, Vice President, Corporate Relations and International Affairs and official spokesperson of Dubal, said:
"Dubal's success throughout the years has been achieved largely as a result of its dedicated workforce. The commitment, dedication and willingness of our people to go that extra mile have made a measurable difference to the company evolving into a truly global brand."
Buhumaid went on to express Dubal's pride at having translated the vision of HH the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and, the directions of the company's Chairman - HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and the UAE Minister of Finance - into the Dubal of today.
"In 1983, when each of these award recipients joined Dubal, our company comprised just three potlines that, together, produced approximately 135,000 tonnes of hot aluminium each year," he said. "Over the years, these individuals have contributed directly to a series of successive expansions that have collectively increased Dubal's facilities to nine potlines with a current production capacity of about 970,000 tonnes a year. That's an increase of 546.7% in just quarter of a century!"
Today, Dubal ranks as one of the largest and most successful aluminium smelters in the world. Its highest quality metal is internationally renowned and sought after for applications ranging from construction through the automotive industry to the electronics and aerospace sectors. The company's reputation for excellence in advancing technology, together with its expertise in the aluminium industry, is also growing worldwide.
Widely regarded as an employer of choice, Dubal won the 2003 Dubai Human Resources Award and the 2006 Dubai Human Resources Award - GOLD. The company's workforce is inherently stable, with approximately 30% of its more than 3,900 employees having served at Dubal for more than ten years and 10% boasting service tenure longer than 20 years.
