"Kurt Klaus is a living link to a bygone era of watch making. Mr Klaus created a miracle of micro engineering with Da Vinci as it is mechanically programmed to give the wearer the right date and time until the year 2500, requiring only a minute adjustment about once a century,"
said Gianfranco D'Attis, Regional Brand Manager of IWC.
He noted that the story of this watch began half a century ago when young Kurt, having finished four years of watch making school presented himself at IWC's manufactory in Schaffhausen (Switzerland).
To envisage a mechanical product that would work for centuries takes a special turn of mind - the mechanical master piece is typical of the patient and far-sighted man - Kurt Klaus.
The 73-year old genius has been in the watch making industry for 51 years and has trained a series of master watchmakers who now work for watch making brands around the world.
The legendary Kurt Klaus is the first master watch maker to have a watch named after him from IWC.
