ADWEA:

Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) initiated Since February 2001, the implementation of a fast-track Enterprise GIS Project to transform and integrate the main stream of the Water and Electricity business activities into digitally seamless, qualitative, modern utility environment.

The implementation of the ADWEA Enterprise GIS project phases has resulted in an integrated system which is now driving the digital transformation of the water, sewerage and electricity business of ADWEA and affiliated companies in terms of ensuring time-variant data development process, business-oriented application usability, fast-growing user community, self-controlled system stability, and structured-support to business re-engineering and modernization.

GIS in ETISALAT:

The GIS system had been implemented in ETISALAT science 1989. Paper maps had been replaced with a state of the art GIS system using the latest available technologies. The whole ETISALAT telecommunication network is stored in the GIS system and this includes the spatial and attributes data for all network components. The GIS system is integrated with other systems like store inventory, material management system and routes and records application. GIS is very critical business application within ETISALAT for all new services.

Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi:

EAD participated in the first official GIS celebration in Abu Dhabi and presented certain applications related to GIS. Of particular interest to the public who visited the EAD exhibition booth, was the tracking of Houbara and Flamingos using Google Earth.

The exhibition was an opportunity for EAD to interact with other government entities using GIS and learn about their data holdings. Students from several schools were also invited by EAD to attend the GIS Day event, where interactive lectures were provided on the use and benefit of GIS with particular emphasis on environmental protection and management.

Education Council:

Abu Dhabi Education Council presented a comprehensive and dynamic information system that stores valuable statistics about all government and private schools in the Emirate. ADEC organized field trips for around 400 students to visit the GIS day. The GIS can locate the position of each school, display demographic information of the schools, redistribute school locations, identify where students live, map the safest bus routes to schools and other useful information that can be used in policies and strategic planning.

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority:

Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) participated in the GIS day to showcase the GIS system currently implemented on its unique tourism projects that was developed by ADTA together with the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC). This allows developers and investors to take advantage of this technology and keep track of current and future developments.

Commercial License Geocoding Pilot:

The DPE is collaborate with the ADSIC Spatial Data Coordination Center (SDCC) in carrying out a pilot program to test the feasibility and usability of commercial license information tied to geographic locations. As part of this study, DPE field inspectors are capturing 'geo codes' that tie each commercial license to the building where the establishment is located. Once geocoded, the process for locating and conduct commercial license verification can be streamlined, and the commercial license database can be utilized for a broad range of useful purposes, such as production of thematic statistical maps showing levels of commercial activity by sector, numbers of employees, types of businesses and other themes. The information can also provide the foundation for e-Government services to help government entities and the public to more easily locate commercial products and services across the Emirate.

The Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Committee (ADSIC) is a government entity created in October 2005 by Executive Council resolution No.33, issued by HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
