Ali Al Shirawi to head Dubai Building Materials Group

The representative committee of the Dubai Building Materials Trading and Manufacturing Group has elected Ali Al Shirawi to serve as the group's chairman.
A 17-year veteran of the building materials trade, Mr Al Shirawi is Executive Director of Al Ghazal Iron Works Co. and Al Shirawi Trading Co., a Dubai-based family business with customers across the GCC and Levant.
The Building Materials Trading and Manufacturing Group was one of seven Dubai business groups formed with the legal backing of DCCI in October and November of last year.
The representative committee of the Dubai Land Transport Business Group elected its chairman at the Chamber on Sunday, while the Dubai Foodstuffs Trading Group appointed its committee posts at DCCI last week.
Mr Al Shirawi said that the Building Materials Trading and Manufacturing Group aims to set uniform quality standards for the industry, and encourage greater dialogue with local and federal authorities.
Different sub-groups will also be formed to represent the various sectors of the industry.
The next general meeting of the group at DCCI is scheduled for February 16.
