Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, the EDAAD programme is one among the Dubai government initiatives to empower Emarati students in areas of academic and leadership skills.

The students were familiarized on various marketing tools employed by the DSF Office in promoting an events portfolio consisting of Dubai Shopping Festival, Dubai Summer Surprises, Eid in Dubai, and the mascot Modhesh to thousands of travel and trade visitors at the prominent annual exhibition.

Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Shopping Festival said,

'DSF Office's participation in WTM 2008 was successful in terms of communicating the events portfolio of the Office that caters to a wide audience to the thousands of travel and trade visitors at the exhibition. With the inclusion of the recently launched 'Eid in Dubai' initiative, visitors can now look forward to year-round world-class events in one of the world's leading destinations - Dubai.'

Commenting on the participation of the students and the scholarship programme, Adel Al Shared, Executive Director, EDAAD said, 'We are certain that the EDAAD scholars who attended the recently concluded World Travel Market 2008 in London would have benefited immensely from this event. Their participation in major international events like these are in line with EDAAD's strategy to provide the students with regular exposure to high-profile events, which will help enhance their performance and accelerate their skills development. Moreover, this initiative will also serve as an excellent platform for the students to promote Dubai and the UAE in general as exciting tourist destinations.'

The DSF Office's participation in WTM 2008 came ahead of the 14th edition of Dubai Shopping Festival that will commence on January 15, 2009, and go on till February 15.
