Children from the society were present at the venue and were treated to meals along with nice souvenirs. The staff at McDonald's went through a special brief session on how to take care of the kids while they were present at the outlet.
The celebration was attended by Mr. Ahmed Adbulrahman A'ali - Treasurer of the Down Syndrome Society along with Mr. Ali El Hajj, General Manager and Mr. Jamil Badran, Operations Director of McDonald's Bahrain. Mr. Abdulla Adel Fakhro, Director - Fakhro Group also graced the occasion with his presence.
McDonald's launched the annual World Children's Day campaign under the slogan 'Think about them every time you read' on the 15th of October 2008; a tradition followed by the McDonald's stores across GCC each year. Custom made World Children's Day bookmarks were on sale at all of McDonald's 14 outlets across the Kingdom, raising BD3000 for this worthy cause.
The proceeds from the sale were donated to the Down Syndrome Society during the event. Mr. Abdulla Adel Fakhro handed over the cheque to Mr. Ahmed Adbulrahman A'ali, as a gesture of the company's ongoing support towards the society.
Mr. Al Hajj shared a few words on the occasion by saying:
"We believe in the saying that they (children) are the future of our world. In saying so, we also believe that each one of them deserves their chance of living life to its fullest. We feel very fortunate to be able to help such a noble cause. We would like to thank each individual person who contributed towards this effort by purchasing the WCD bookmarks as it is their effort that will help bring a smile to these children's faces."
Receiving the donation, Dr. Mohammed Abdulkarim Al Mannai commented: "We would like to express our gratitude to all the people who took part in this humanitarian initiative and special thanks to McDonald's Bahrain for their ongoing commitment to help the children of our society."
